The beauty edit
Code8 is expertly curated to simplify every woman’s beauty routine, for an instantly radiant, naturally enhanced finish in minutes
Code8 is a London-born luxury brand representing the infinite potential of beauty. Created around the principle of flattering colour palettes for all, Code8 offers a curated edit of make-up essentials that can take you from everyday to elevated in just a few products. Founders Sophia Chikovani (above, left) and Nadine Ayache (above, centre) wanted to help women achieve more with less. “The aim was to offer multifunctional products with buildable results, so you can wear the same product from day to night, building to a different look as desired,” says Sophia. “We develop universally flattering shades to challenge the industry norm that only certain colours suit certain women.”
It is a mission that calls for high-performing formulations that deliver. Cult product Radiate Beauty Balm, for example, is a lightweight, velvety-smooth, second-skin-feel base product containing pectin, argan-seed oil and SPF15, coming in 11 shades. It is a favourite of customers, influencers and beauty editors alike.
To further ensure the brand works for all, the duo pioneered an industry-first in personalised beauty. Inspired by Sophia’s childhood memories of her artist aunt blending lipsticks to her ideal shade, they have created the Colour ID Lab experience. Clients have a consultation with a Code8 Colour Maestro who blends and packages a unique, bespoke lipstick – available at the London flagship store in the Burlington Arcade, and online. “It’s the antidote to the traditional approach of trying to mould women into a specific ‘look’,” says Sophia. “It also means clients can enjoy the artistry of creating a beautiful shade.”
Underpinning the brand is its eight-part manifesto (hence Code8), vowing to empower women to achieve their look in as little time as possible through versatile, buildable, long-lasting products. “We want to give women the tools to define their own beauty code,” says Nadine.
Despite only approaching their fourth anniversary, Code8 has Alexa Chung as global brand ambassador and the collection has an impressive global footprint through retailers such as Bloomingdale’s, Fenwick, Harrods, Net-a-Porter and Tmall. The range will remain compact, however. “We’re not looking to launch new products on a regular basis,” says Nadine. “We’ll just finesse the collection so women can come to Code8 for all their make-up needs.”
