Palacio de Villapanès Hotel

Who wouldn’t want to spend a few days in a palace – especially one located in the heart of one of Europe’s most picturesque cities? Nestled within the historic old Andalucian town of Seville, the exquisite Palacio de Villapanés Hotel is small but perfectly formed. Each room encapsulates the dignity and grandeur of palace life while retaining the inviting warmth and hospitality of a home.

“It is truly a residential palace,” explains the hotel’s Director Martina Cam, “owned and lived in by the Marquis de Villapanés family until 2004. This beautiful house is of great historic and architectural interest – yet it is also very comfortable and welcoming for our guests.”

Dating from the beginning of the 18th century, the Villapanés’ family home was crumbling into disrepair when it was bought and transformed into a five-star hotel. Developers from Madrid spent five years restoring the palace to its former glory, preserving all the original building materials and features such as marble floors and columns, parquets and timber beams, wherever possible. “The hotel comprises three separate buildings which are grouped together into an L-shape,” says Martina. “The oldest of these faces onto Santiago Street and houses six luxurious suites, which were historically grand reception rooms to welcome guests into the palace.”

Guests can imbibe traditional Andalucian hospitality through the hotel’s many dining options, including all-day tapas and à la carte Spanish and international cuisine. Meanwhile, royal pampering and relaxation can be found in the hotel’s wellness area, where guests indulge in private massages and Turkish baths.

“We also have a solarium terrace with deck chairs, Balinese beds and a small plunge pool to refresh,” Martina adds. “It has spectacular views of the city’s old bell towers and across the sun-drenched rooftops of the city. Seville is an extraordinarily beautiful place and those who live here are very proud of its history and culture. Palacio de Villapanés provides an intimate setting at the heart of the old town – somewhere quiet and relaxing with warmth and soul. It is all about providing a personalized experience for our guests and making sure that they enjoy every aspect of their stay.”
