In business, as in life, if you’re not moving forwards you run the risk of not only standing still but also of falling backwards. It’s a maxim that the lavish Pine Cliffs, a Luxury Collection Resort, has long embraced. Add to that the choices we offer, for special events such as weddings or product launches, for instance, and the luxury lifestyle options that are available, and I’d say that our list of selling points is endless.”
Today, Pine Cliffs is the only Marriott property in Europe that provides such an array of facilities. And a recent expansion has seen it take yet another step forward. “We are a global player in the corporate meetings market,” says Thomas. “We benefit from our international sales offices and loyalty programmes for individuals and corporate accounts.”
The resort’s progress is reflected in the evolution of the wider Algarve region. The sun, beaches and golf are still major attractions, but visitors are increasingly demanding and look for exceptional, tailor-made lifestyle options, whether coming for leisure or on business. “We strive to consolidate our leading position in the market with the newest additions to the resort – the luxury apartment destinations of Pine Cliffs Ocean Suites and Pine Cliffs Gardens,” says Thomas. “Together with our owning company, United Investments (Portugal), S.A., we will further enhance existing facilities to reinforce the resort’s prestigious image.”
The hard work is clearly paying off. Alongside a number of awards that are testament to the resort’s unstinting commitment to its guests – including being named the World’s Leading Luxury Leisure Resort at the 2017 World Travel Awards and recently Europe’s Best Luxury Ocean View Resort by the World Luxury Hotel Awards – the resort continues to welcome visitors from all corners of the world.
“There is a great diversity among our guests,” says Thomas. “The main markets are the UK, Germany and the rest of Europe. But we’re welcoming growing numbers from the US, Russia, the Middle East and other emerging markets. Our appeal is far-reaching, but we always set the very highest of standards.”
