Oribe Hair Care sets the standard with a state-of-the-art collection that gives professional results at home as well as in the salon

When Oribe hair care launched in 2008, the beauty world looked very different than it does today. “Hair was an underserved category,” recalls co-founder and President Daniel Kaner. “There weren’t a lot of boutique or luxury brands. If you went to Harrods back then, you wouldn’t find hair care.”

What was missing was the kind of refined product found in other beauty ranges, such as skincare or perfume. Uniquely combining old-world craftsmanship with innovation, Oribe Hair Care’s collection is unique in every category. Each product is professionally tested backstage, on set and in the salon to ensure it outperforms everything else in top stylists’ kits.

The line was inspired by its co-founder, the late Cuban-American hairstylist Oribe Canales. Oribe rose to fame in the 1980s, becoming one of the most sought-after celebrity hairstylists in the world, celebrated for creating the sexy, big, beautiful hair that became synonymous with the supermodel.

When creating the brand, the founders lived by the mantra that every detail matters, from product performance to packaging design to the fragrance within. The formulations were ahead of their time, built upon technology inspired by high-end skincare. The elegant facets and curves of the custom-crafted bottles were inspired by Italian grappa bottles and vintage luxury perfumes. They even commissioned a leading French fragrance house to blend a signature scent, Côte d’Azur, to be the first fine fragrance for hair. Côte d’Azur sparked such devotion that it became a standalone perfume and more.

Immediately after its debut, Oribe was picked up by stylists in Hollywood and on the European runways, with consumer demand quick to follow. “Our best-known product, the cult favourite Dry Texturizing Spray, created a new category within hair care and remains a best-seller today,” says Daniel. Guided by its dedication to detail, Oribe has expanded into lifestyle, with the launch of body- and hand-care collections, home fragrances, styling tools, accessories and more.

When Oribe Hair Care launched, it was to merge the iconic stylist’s love of hairdressing and of individual beauty to realise a collection of original products that perform at the highest level wherever they are used. “Today,” says Daniel, “we honour Oribe’s legacy by continuing to place the ultimate importance on performance to bring more beauty into the world.”
