Marli New York creates modern, minimalist jewellery with a twist for stylish and independent women
Maral Artinian started Marli New York for one reason – because she felt there were no fine brands making the kind of jewellery she wanted to see: fine jewellery addressed to the dynamic woman who always wants to be ready for what could happen next. Rather than wait for somebody else to do so, she went ahead and did it herself, a move that reflects the strong-minded and independent women her company caters for.
Maral grew up in a family that was passionate about jewellery, and had been living and breathing revolutionary designs since she was a child. “My family has been in the jewellery business for over a century,” says Maral. “I was born into this industry and feel that it is engraved in me. I used to spend a lot of my time in my father’s workshop. Being able to witness first-hand the craftsmanship that went into creating each piece left me in awe. The memories I have will always stay with me because it led me to my current path.”
Maral formed the company after a long period of travelling and living in Asia, Europe and the Middle East, and was inspired by women she encountered during her travels. “I was instantly fascinated by their style and felt an instinct to find a perfect way to complement their look,” says Maral. “The Marli woman is a self-purchaser who loves minimalist jewellery pieces with a modern twist. Our jewellery speaks to the fashion-savvy woman who wants to incorporate jewellery into her everyday style.” Think Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Jane Fonda, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna: they’ve all been seen wearing Marli.
“New York – the dream this city represents, the innovative architecture – is my other great inspiration,” says Maral. “It’s a perfect representation of the Marli dream to create pieces that showcase New York City through its innovative and revolutionary designs.” While elegant design, 18-karat gold and the highest quality precious and semi-precious stones are hallmarks of the brand, there’s an ineffable quality to Maral’s creations that sets Marli’s jewellery apart – something personal that reflects the high quality of their design; and the care, attention and detail that defines each and every piece.
